A Symphony of Compassionate Care: Together, We're the Heart of Health Care

Celebrating Hospital Week, May 11-17, 2025
This week, EvergreenHealth comes together to celebrate Hospital Week, May 11-17, under the theme, "A Symphony of Compassionate Care."
When I was a student at the University of Washington, one of my favorite pastimes was taking the bus downtown to enjoy a concert at the Seattle Symphony. As an undergraduate and throughout medical school, I found myself at Benaroya Hall nearly twice a month, listening to great music. Over the years, I had the privilege of hearing many distinguished guest artists, masters of their craft from around the world, perform with the symphony. While their solo performances were exceptional, what brought me back week after week was the orchestra itself. For me, it was such a captivating experience to watch a group of individuals work seamlessly together to create something so special.
This year's Hospital Week theme is a fitting tribute to who our staff is and what we achieve in health care. Just as with a symphony orchestra, everyone at EvergreenHealth, at the bedside and behind the scenes, plays an essential part in creating an environment of healing, hope and trust.
Hospital Week honors all of our doctors, nurses and staff in their respective roles and is also a time to reflect on our shared history at EvergreenHealth. A history that was made possible by our community, who in the late 1960's voted to create our public hospital district. Along with EvergreenHealth, we are also known by another name, King County Public Hospital #2. We are proud of that name, and what it represents: an organization governed by our community and guided by a singular mission, "To advance the health of the community we serve through high quality, safe, compassionate and cost-effective health care."
Thank you to everyone who works at EvergreenHealth for being the heart of health care, for bringing your talent, skill and compassion to this "orchestra" that heals, serves and sustains our community.
