EvergreenHealth Providers and Employees Welcome the New Year by Sharing Their Best Advice to Help You and Your Family Live Well

EvergreenHealth providers, leaders and employees past and present have long shared the common goal of advancing the health of the community.

While health tips have come in all shapes and sizes over the last five decades, the current generation of EvergreenHealth staff weighed in with the wellness tips they implement in their own lives.

Laura Paulsen

"Self-care is so important, especially for women. Getting the basics, including, healthy sleep, a balanced diet and regular exercise can help to prevent illness and improve quality of life." – Laura Paulsen, ARNP | EvergreenHealth Primary Care, Lakeshore Bothell

Jimena Gomez Del Carpio

"I want to stay as healthy as possible so that I am able to enjoy my life, I have two small kids who motivate me even more. I need to be healthy and active, to be able to keep up with them. If one day I get sick, having a healthy body and mind will help me battle it.

Stay active by doing the activity you enjoy the most, it has to be fun so that you can be constant. If you like to dance… do Zumba. If you like the outdoors… go hiking!"

Jimena Gomez Del Carpio, MD | EvergreenHealth Primary Care, Monroe

"My wellness tip is that every January I do a 30 Days of Yoga program with "Yoga with Adriene" on YouTube. It's free for everyone to join, you can go at your own pace in your own home, and a healthy way to start the year both physically and mentally. I've had many friends and family members join in this tradition." – Allie Wilson | Radiology Technician

Darin Bradshaw

"I am a strong advocate for living a healthy lifestyle as it can not only add years to our life, but life to our years. The pillars of health include a healthy diet, regular physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances, and positive social connection. For patients interested in improving their diet and overall health, I suggest they try incorporating more of a whole-food, plant-based eating pattern." – Darin Bradshaw, MD | EvergreenHealth Sport & Spine Care

Winnie Tsai

"In terms of a healthy diet, earning about what nutrients are in the foods that we eat using a food tracking app like MyFitnessPal for at least a full week or more – this helps you get a sense of daily calories in, amount of carbohydrates, protein, fat in your food.

Everything in moderation, understanding portion sizes i.e., using smaller plates for portion control. Add some greens to everything – smoothies, in your morning breakfast scramble, a small side salad, in your pasta sauce. Be intentional with daily physical activity by walking as much as you can - parking farther, taking stairs instead of elevators."
